Jews across sports shined on the international stage at the Maccabiah Games, the Beijing Olympics and the World Cup.

While fencing used to be a sport practiced only by the elite – training at a high level is very costly – there are now 19 fencing clubs in Israel, from Ma’alot in the North to Beersheba in the South.

“She is an example and model of groundbreaking pioneering.” Brig.-Gen. Yehiel Gozel, chairman of the Paratroopers' Legacy Association, said.

A short chat with Roman during which he gave me snippets of his family history and his personal story convinced me that this man was a hero in the same mold as Yehuda Hamaccabi.

In the men’s Under-23 European Championships held last summer in the Czech Republic, the Israeli team won a bronze medal, securing a spot for the first time in the Under-23s World Cup.

Stuart Weitzman has designed shoes for the likes of Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. His iconic luxury footwear brand is sold in over 70 countries, he is also a Maccabiah Games medal winner.

The museum covers an area of 1,500 square meters and will present the exciting story of Jewish sports, from the 19th century to the present day, alongside more than 1,000 rare items.

Last month, JJ Harel participated in the Junior Olympics, where he won three gold medals and cleared 6 feet and 5 inches in the high jump - breaking a 42-year-old record for the Under 14 age group.
